Yep! That’s right. I fronted up for another Spartan 300 Challenge today!

4 weeks ago, on 16 June I completed my first Spartan 300 Challenge. Something my PT, Mason, ‘surprised’ me with. It was a terrific challenge and despite it being really hard I found myself saying YES! when Mason suggested I do it again down the track to guage how much my fitness and strength had improved. The perfect Week 8 Mini Milestone, so today was D-day.
This time I knew what was in store…and I knew that we would be stepping it up a notch with heavier weights, higher box jumps etc while aiming to stay under the time I completed it in the first time. I was definitely TERRACITED (Terrified + Excited at the same time).
The challenge involved 300 reps broken down as follows:
25 pull-ups
50 deadlifts at 60kg (20kg heavier than last time!)
50 push-ups
50 single arm snatch at 10kg (25 R then 25 L)
50 box jumps at 30cm/12inches (higher than last time)
50 sit ups with 5kg medicine ball (25 V-sits & 25 butterfly sits)
25 pull ups
I completed it in 24:02! I burnt 277 calories in that time!!
OMFG – heavier weights, higher box jumps, V-sits instead of all butterfly sits AND in a faster time!! AND I did it in spite of my cough and cold!! I am so pleased and already looking forward to doing it again – with increased difficulty, no cough/cold and in faster time! BRING IT ON!
Doing it a second time has really hit home the message that I am becoming stronger and fitter, especially given the increased difficulty and faster time!
Thank you Mason for setting up this challenge for me & coaching me to smash it!!
Thank you Mish & 12WBT team for the Lean & Strong program. It really gets results.
THIS IS SPARTA!!! Beyond doubt.
Xx
Ange

Well done, congratulations etc etc. You must be v.proud. As you said in one of your recent posts – how far you have come in a year!!!!
Deb
Sometimes I cannot believe it has just been 1 year Deb…. its gone fast. Then other times that severely obese, unwell burnt out person who I was a year ago seems like it was actually 20 years ago. Weird!! Thanks for your constant support and encouragement, I really treasure it! xx
Friggin awesome baby doll! And to top it off with cardio boxing and hill sprints is sensational!
Thanks Ruth!! What a rockstar weekend of training we had!! Amazing what we can do when we put our mind to it and JFDI
xx

Ange, I come to your blog when I need inspiration and a kick up the bum. I love looking at your before and after photos. You are an inspiration!
I’m doing 12wbt at the moment. Just had a week of flu and not making excuses but admitting last week was not a shining week for me. I am about to kick it up a notch this week.
I’ve got my eye on your Spartan challenge as my mini milestone for my next round of 12wbt….not sure I could do the pullups yet….
Thank you so much Tania, I started this blog just for me….. but so glad to hear it delivers to you a virtual kick up the bum! hahaha It is so hard when we are sick isn’t it? It is so easy to have 1 or 2 days off that we *need* that then becomes a much longer break. Definitely time to kick it up a notch this week – for us all! We are on the home stretch now to Week 12…. we can achieve heaps in the 4 weeks left. I can highly recommend the Spartan Challenge. If you google around you will find variations on it – you can find one that suits your current fitness level and build up from there. Best wishes xx
