Time for my weekly review post – looking at where I nailed it & where I could change things up or make improvements.
Last Monday 7 May I kicked off my commitment to squeaky clean nutrition & tracking meals accurately. Absolutely nailed it! I got my head into the right place, planned my meals and tracked as carefully as back when I started out at 110kg and had 40kg to lose. Focussed with super accurate tracking!!
It was the start of my second week of increased training, still limited by the left wrist injury and not permitted to do anything that used the wrist whatsoever. Frustrating!!! I trained all 7 days, once per day, with my planned rest day turning into an 8km run / walk for the Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run in Brisbane. It was unexpected 8km, my first 8km, had planned on 4km but a series of events led to me having choice of 8km or nothing, so 8km it was! Monday & Wednesday Bell-time (kettlebell) group sessions were fairly light on – limited by the wrist & there was lots of technique covered that I was slow to grasp. This meant these were fairly moderate sessions that rather than a full on smash up fests for me. Tuesday & Thursday High Intensity Training (HIT) group sessions had increased intensity plus I found ways to work around any exercises involving the wrist. Friday was a big running technique session with Steve (stay tuned for more on that, I learnt so much I am keen to share!). Saturday was a huge fast & furious TABATA session with Lisa Curry and Sunday was the 8km Mother’s Day Classic.
Yesterday, Monday 14 May, I took a rest day for starters! And I also weighed in: 3.6kg GONE IN 1 WEEK!!!
Just goes to show what 1 week of squeaky clean eating can achieve. My training Monday to Thursday was the same as the previous week, Friday to Sunday definitely had increased intensity. I am stoked as Sunday was Mother’s Day and my birthday – it was non-stop from 4am til midnight!! I opted not to drink any alcohol but I did enjoy some birthday cake and generally looser eating at lunch and dinner than I had for the previous 6 days.
Thanks Mase, Jodie & all of Team Zenergy!! Thank you Lisa Curry!! Thank you all my friends who did the MDC with me!!
This week it’s still all about nailing that clean eating, especially given that work & PhD commitments this week dictate some insanely long hours at my desk plus I leave at sparrow’s on Friday for 3 days in Melbourne for the 12WBT Round 1 Finale! These things combined result in some reduced training time for me as well as reduced sleep (the enemy of weight loss!!!) .
So stoked at this result – 3.6kg is a great start to my brand new focus and push to lose that last pesky amount of fat that means I will have finished what I started in terms of weight loss and improving my health!
Here’s to seeing those scales keep moving downward and to hearing from my physio that I can start using my wrist again in training!
I hope you have smashed your goals over the last week and are set for the week ahead. Might see you in Melbourne!
xx Ange

Wow!! Amazing effort! I’m looking forward (can’t believe I said that) to weighing in tomorrow after a great week of training and diet!
Hi Ange – this is so what I needed to read today… thanks! A bit of tweaking, a bit more focus and who knows what I can do.

Hi Ange. Well done on your weight loss and your amazing training week. My half ironman traing started yesterday so as well as running I am now including swimming and cycling sessions. Next week I’ll get back into the gym for a couple of weights sessions and a core strengthening one as well. doing some tweaking as well but I love seeing the improvements in fitness. Have fun in Melb!
