12WBT Queensland Crew Celebration Workout

Rocked it!! Without doubt!! Champion work team!!

Just *some* of our awesome Queensland Crew members ready to tackle the workout and Summit Track! All smiles before…. ;)

On Saturday 24 November a bunch of the Queensland Crew got together for a Celebration Workout: acknowledging our achievements so far this year and coming together to kick off Round 4 of 12WBT. Lots of new faces welcomed by lots of Crew members who have been kicking around together for a while.  Nerves dissipated quickly, all the children soon had games going and the grown ups had a chance to mingle and play as well!

Wonderful PTs, Janette Dwyer (12WBTer & PT from DYS) and Margie Cummins (Winner of Biggest Loser 2012 & now PT) assisted me to deliver the workout and to encourage everyone to get what they needed from the event:  making connections and meeting new people, getting the heart rates up and conquering that part of Mt Coot-tha (plenty more tracks to conquer yet!).

100 Queensland Crew peeps heading up the Summit Track with Margie Cummins & Marley leading the way!

With about 100 Queensland Crew members and a swag of gorgeous kiddies (including a few fur kids), we took over the picnic area at JC Slaughter Falls for some getting to know you fun, a short but intense AMRAP* to get the blood pumping and then we headed up the Summit Track (about 2.2km of bush track).

After the AMRAP the walk up the track *seemed* like a welcome rest (haha, no!). Margie, Janette and I spread out along the track and everyone went at the pace they desired.  Whether they ran or walked the track, everyone gave it their best as was evident by the looks on their faces at the end. Red, sweaty beetroot faces beaming with pride and happiness.

Thank Yous:  A huge thank you to Janette Dwyer and Margie Cummins for generously giving your time and expertise. Thank you Leisa Bye, and your Mum, Margie, for looking after the children – including mounting a very urgent Beanie Baby Rescue Mission.  Thank you to Marika Thompson for organising the shiny new Queensland Crew banner! Also with thanks to those who purchased JFDI shirts and/or attended the September Queensland Crew Workout as Marika and I combined the left over funds we each had from those things to purchase our banner!   Thank you to everyone who brought along equipment and entertainment for the children and who brought snacks to share.  Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word about the event and make it happen.

A massive shout out to all the Queensland Crew members who took time out to really welcome newbies, to share their own stories and to reassure them that they have support and encouragement as they take the really difficult steps towards making changes for their health and well being.

You guys rock my world. I would have a moment to stand back and take it in and in that moment my heart would burst.

The smiles on people’s faces as they came back down the track… and some tears also…. said it all.  Well done everyone!!  Congratulate yourselves.

We are on the eve of Week 2 of Round 4 – set yourself up for a good week. Get your mind around the week ahead. It is not about perfect, it is about effort. It is about baby steps. It is about getting your mind in the right place – a nurturing and self caring mode. Making changes to our health and fitness is NOT about deprivation, starvation, smashing yourself or self-hatred. Yes – we do desire change. For many of us our health has diminished to a point that our bodies are demanding change. Make these changes about self-nurturing and the long term.  You are off to a great start – coming along on Saturday afternoon was an act of taking what you need to nurture yourself and set yourself up for success.

Photos below and more to come. Lots of photos were taken of the children which Leisa has posted in the closed SE Queensland Facebook group. For privacy and safety reasons I have avoided posting any photos of children here on this public space. If you are in any of the photos on this page or on Facebook and would like them removed that is AOK, just say the word. :)

Feel free to Facebook or email me the photos you took, I will add to this page and share around! Email: bellatimesthree@gmail.com

See you all very soon.   xxx Ange

PS Margie: I might be taking Marley hostage. She rocks!  In fact, I know I said I’d take you as my plus 1 for the 12WBT Round 4 Finale in Brisbane in February…. but can I get back to you once Marley gives me an answer? She is playing a little hard to get though. ;)
