Updated: March 16 2012 <– Hmmmm!! Sooooo… this page has not been updated in over 12 months and so very much has changed. Standy by. Update coming together with a shiny new website that will be home to this blog and more!!!
I am Ange. Ange I am.
No this isn’t a Dr Seuss book but toyed with the idea of that style for my ‘About Me’ page as I am not sure how to sum up ‘me’. Let’s start again!
Hi! My name is Angela Wallace. I am from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
For the last 18 months I have been transforming my life in every way. This blog was started to keep me accountable, I never expected anyone much to read it…. but with close to 100,000 hits in 12 months it seems people do read it!! To date I have blogged about my adventures with Michelle Bridges’ 12 Week Body Transformation (12WBT) program; my adventures in weight loss, restoring my health and learning to exercise. I’ll be sharing my 12WBT adventures on this blog. Follow along & share your adventure! I am still unsure what to write in an “About Me” section such as this on my blog…. it needs some thought!! I will be blogging more about my 12WBT Adventures in 2012 as well as bringing some new content to the blog and experimenting – this world of blogging looks like it could be rather fun!!
Some highlights of my 12WBT Adventure to date, which you can read about in this blog:
- 40kg gone forever!! Over 30kg gone in first two rounds of 12WBT (June – Dec 2010). Lost the weight and KEPT IT OFF!
- Reduced blood pressure from 214/152 to normal through weight loss, diet changes and exercise.
- Top 14 Lean & Strong – Round 2, 2011 – Michelle Bridges’ 12 Week Body Transformation
- 12WBT Ambassador, 2011
- 1st Place Winner – Round 3, 2010 – Michelle Bridge’s 12 Week Body Transformation (12WBT) Challenge
- Top 10 Transformations – Round 2, 2010 – Michelle Bridge’s 12 Week Body Transformation (12WBT) Challenge
More to come on this page soon but in the mean time check out my transformation from June 2010 to Dec 2011 on this page: http://bellaxthree.wordpress.com/my-transformation-with-12wbt/
How to describe ‘me’?
I am the best version of me.
I am a reforming perfectionist…… striving to be an optimalist.
I am healthy, fit, strong, passionate and inspired. I hope to be inspirational to others who were as burnt out, obese and stressed as I was 18 months ago.
I run | I lift | I teach | I learn | I speak | I write
That’s sums it up in a few words…. but let’s get real. You want real, I know it!
I am mum to two fur-kids; 5-year old miniature schnauzers named Hugo and Chase, who allow me to live with them and my my incredible partner – now fiancé - David who is my best friend, my soul mate and number one partner in crime. He may describe himself as the long-time suffering partner of a (reforming) perfectionist who bites off more than she can chew… haha.
My family and friends are the centre of my world and I work to be the best version of me not just for me, but for them as well.
Once upon a time when asked to write about me I would have given you my work / professional spiel as straight up and that would be all I said. I was a workaholic defined only by those things. Not healthy. Work and study are still important to me; I am still very passionate and driven about those things but I am not defined by them. I am so much more… and still finding out more about who I am every day.
The work spiel is long usually but I will keep it very brief, this is not a CV or LinkedIn!
I am a scientist. I am a specialist medical educator. I am a lecturer in health, science and medicine. I am a science communicator. I am an almost ready-to-submit PhD student holding an NHMRC Scholarship. I am published in high profile international journals and act as a reviewer for some of these also. I have many and varied research interests and love that being an academic means you can follow your passions and interests, there is always something new to sink your teeth into! The world is amazing – I was born asking “Why?” and that will never change…. only the things I ask why about will!!
Hobbies – non-work, non-PhD, non-fitness fun: I am a professional hair and make up artist, a sometimes stylist. It’s a hobby I have not pursued much for years now but dabbling now & then. I read and read when I get the chance, preferably not work-related but sometimes that is the only reading I get to do. I love to write – some days writing for work, teaching and PhD is a grind but having other creative writing outlets is awesome! I am almost a personal trainer and a well-being coach, working on that in breaks from work and PhD. Loving the idea that I can eventually bring all my passions, interests, skills and talents together into something that makes me jump out of bed every day absolutely busting to get to into the day!
Definitely more to come under this heading of “About Me” as I figure out how to communicate who I am now after not being sure for so very long – stay tuned!
xx Ange

Hey Ange, great blog.
I have never commented on a blog before but saw your profile on the 12wbt SEQ page and reading your blog I can so identify with your comments. I am a Clinical Researcher – burning the candle at both ends and a bit at my wits end! Just started the 12wbt myself for the first time – any tips you have to help deal with the pressures of work & study are warmly welcomed!
Congrats on your success,
Sal
Always continue the climb. It is possible for you to do whatever you choose, if you first get to know who you are and are willing to work with a power that is greater than ourselves to do it. Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Hi, great to read your blog. I am a uni lecturer as well and am struggling through my PHd. With 4 teenage children as well as writing I am, like you rather time poor. I love reading how well you have done on 12 wbt – this is my first round and so far have lost 9 kilos so not complaining about those results. What uni are you at? I am heading up to the University of Queensland in May (during the weekend of the finale actually).

Whoo what a inspiration can’t get enough of your wisdom
Hi Ange,
I have just discovered your blog and have been working my way around it. Your achievements are quite incredible! What an intelligent, gorgeous woman you are – and one who keeps it real! I look forward to reading more about your life and all your different journeys. Bel
I remember reading ages, ages ago, that you had quit chocolate, which was harder for you than quitting smoking because of what those two addictions addressed. It’s probably silly for me to ask, especially considering we’re all different people on different paths, but how long did it take you to no longer feel the terrible, psychological withdrawal?
Hey, as I am on a FB hiatus at the moment, I wanted to pop in here and say hi and to give you the biggest virtual hug. I am a firm believer that hugs will fix just about anything, and for those really curly problems (like the ones you seem to be facing right about now) they at least make the facing of the problems a little more warm and fuzzy.
Keep your chin high and your head clear. Your heart is pure so know that this will pass.
M xx
You are an inspiration. Thank you so much for starting this blog and continuing it… you are an amazing and inspiring lady. XOXO
Keep up the great work.
